Now a guaranteed designer and master tailor, Umberto had the means to support himself and his young bride. Together, they quickly started a family and opened a business in Long Beach California. The opening of their store, named Umberto, was a scary period. They leased a 3400 square foot space, unsure that they would make a dime. His wife and children often brought him meals as he and his manager constructed the store, often spending many a night in sleeping bags during the building phase.

The night before the grand opening shipments of clothing had just arrived. With a whole store to stock, Umberto, his wife and manager were sure that they would be selling clothing out of cardboard boxes. With only a few hours to spare, 30 local residents showed up at the doors that evening to help unload those cardboard boxes and fill the racks. Umberto still gets tears in his eyes when he tells this story.
Over the years Umberto has been ahead of the curve in most cases when it comes to designing clothes and managing a small business. He has served his community as well as individuals in other parts of the states. Many of Umberto's customers have never even seen the inside of his store as Umberto travels to them for personal consultations.
Now, after three decades of service, we are proud to say that Umberto Inc. is still family owned and operated and is now looking to expand it's brick and mortar home by including the Internet. In the future we hope to make many new friends and customers via cyberspace. Umberto feels that by going online his story has come full circle.
